This is basically just skating for fun, it can be done on inline skates or quads. Although it is called “street skating” many people skate indoors in sports halls and Dutch barns where surfaces are smoother and the weather more reliable. Many then move outdoors and may cover 10 to 20 miles in a session. A really good way of keeping fit.
Speed Skating
The inline version of ice speed skating. It is popular sport with clubs and regular competitions.
Street Hockey
Like ice hockey only on inline skates
Artistic Skating
We all saw Dancing on Ice, this is the quad skaters version of this. There are thriving clubs all over the country, including one at Stroud.
Aggressive Skating
Mainly the domain of the young and bold. You must have seen them sliding down railings and along walls. They use specially adapted versions of inline skates.
Slalom
This involves weaving intricate patterns though a set of small cones. In competitions the moves are done in time to music and require great control and agility.
